SyndromicTrends.com displays surveillance trends from participating BIOFIRE® FIREWORKS™ customers in the United States for various pathogens related to infectious diseases, including respiratory and gastrointestinal illnesses. The data displayed on SyndromicTrends.com comes from participants using BIOFIRE® FILMARRAY® TORCH and BIOFIRE® FILMARRAY® 2.0 molecular diagnostic systems which leverage multiplex PCR technology to simultaneously test for a comprehensive grouping of infectious disease-causing targets in about an hour, that have agreed to contribute de-identified, aggregated BIOFIRE Panel results. Data from these diagnostic tests are anonymized, aggregated, and presented on the website for the purpose of informing healthcare professionals and the community regarding pathogen activity to help make the world a healthier place. BIOFIRE® Panel test results from laboratories contributing to this surveillance network are collected in near real-time. The anonymization and aggregation processes remove all protected health information under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) thus complying with HIPAA’s de-identification requirements as certified by an expert determination. bioMérieux also complies with applicable data privacy laws with respect to its collection, processing, and use of this data. Detection rates for each organism detected by the BIOFIRE® FILMARRAY® Respiratory 2.1 (RP2.1) Panel and BIOFIRE® FILMARRAY® Gastrointestinal (GI) Panel are displayed as a detection rate in a stacked area chart for the previous two years. Three-week centered detection information is used to calculate the detection rates.
